The post 6 carrying the head 3 for laying the spacing strip 2 is fixed. The head 3 may move vertically on the post 6 in order to lay the vertical parts of the strip 2. The horizontal parts are laid by horizontal displacement of the pane of glass 1, the head 3 being fixed. At each corner the head pivots by 90 DEG about a retractable needle 24, and a presser foot 23 which can move translationally, makes it possible to confirm the adherence of the strip 2 before and after each pivoting.
