This device for heating up a lateral wall 3 which defines a small face (side dam) of the casting space of an installation for continuous casting between rolls includes a box structure forming a furnace, one of the walls of which, the wall to be heated, is in thermal contact with the said small face of the casting space, a burner directed towards the wall to be heated and an exit orifice for fumes.
