The cage with pockets for a rolling-contact bearing comprises a tubular part 3 made from sheet metal essentially exhibiting lateral rings 5 and intermediate ribs 6, and lateral parts fixed to the tubular part, which form retaining projections for the rolling elements 2. Cage segments 8 made from synthetic material are slipped via the inner side of the pockets 4 onto that part of the lateral rings 5 which delimits the pocket 4 and exhibit a sliding face pressed against the frontal face of the rolling elements 2. Retention projections 12 formed on either side, in the circumferential direction, of the cage segment 8, extend as far as the middle of the adjacent ribs and axially between the rolling elements 2, thereby at least partially surrounding the latter and exhibiting rear faces 14 pressed against the retaining projections 12 of the neighbouring cage segments 8.
