Brief description of the excitation and the regulation of a brushless synchronous alternator

The bushless and brushless synchronous alternator comprises an auxiliary winding 2 housed in the stator of the alternator which gathers a monophase harmonic voltage created deliberately by the shape of the poles. By short-circuiting this winding, a reverse field is created which is gathered by an appropriate coil 4 positioned on the rotor of the alternator. The voltage thus created is rectified 5 and then sent to the rotor of the alternator 3. The energising power is metered by metering the short-circuiting of the stator winding. IMAGE
