The invention relates to a method and a device for obtaining a representation of the real surface of a mirror. BR/ This surface is represented by a set of values which correspond to the radial or approximately radial distances which separate points distributed on the surface of the mirror from a spherical reference surface. To implement this method, a device is used which comprises a support (1) provided with at least three stops (2) able to support the support and distributed or able to be distributed as points on the surface of a sphere said support further carrying at least one distance sensor (3).
