The invention relates to a lever device bearing on a twin-level shim by means of which it is possible to limit the travel of the flushing mechanism control and thereby to limit the quantity of water discharged. This device can be used without modifying existing fixtures, provided that the flushing mechanism is controlled by pulling the control rod upwards, this control rod being situated generally in the axis of the tank lid. It consists of a twin-level shim which comprises two limit stops and on which there bears a lever which, by being pulled upwards to a greater or lesser extent, activates the control rod of the flushing mechanism and allows all or part of the contents of the tank to escape.
