HULLING METHOD AND APPARATUS AND HULLING APPARATUS IN COUNTRY ELEVATOR

PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of unpolished rice by reducing the grain- roughening rate due to dehulling rolls and to also prevent the softening of the surfaces of the dehulling rolls due to heat and to keep the dehulling capacity due to a proper roll gap by cooling the raw material unhulled rice supplied to the dehulling rolls to below room temp. by cooling air before dehulling the same. CONSTITUTION:The raw material unhulled rice supplied to dehulling rolls 2,3 is cooled to below room temp. within a raw material tank 6 by the cooling air from a cooling air generator 23 and subsequently dehulled. The dehulling rolls 2, 3 are also cooled by this cooling air. In a country elevator equipped with a cooling air generator for cooling a silo and/or the unhulled rice charged in the silo, the cooling air generator is connected to the raw material tank 6 and dehulling chamber 4 of a hulling apparatus through a change-over apparatus. As a result, the grain-roughening rate due to the dehulling rolls is reduced to make it possible to prevent the deterioration of unhulled rice. Further, the softening of the surfaces of the dehulling rolls is prevented and the dehulling capacity due to a proper roll gap is kept.
