PURPOSE: To provide a cleaning device for sweeper filter for automatically cleaning without requiring the participation of an operator or disturbing the operation of a machine. CONSTITUTION: A power-driven surface maintenance machine 10 having an exhaust device for controlling dust has an air filter 18 for removing dust from the air before exhausted to the atmosphere. When a dust sufficient to affect the control of removal is accumulated, an automatic means 18 for mechanically shaking off such dust from the filter is provided. The cleaning of this filter is performed without intervention of the operator of the machine, and it is not required to interrupt the operation of the machine or interrupt the air flow in order to control the dust.
