SYSTEM FOR DETECTING FIRE IN AIRCRAFT HAVING CARGO BAY

PURPOSE: To prevent an erroneous alarm from being generated, to quicken a response, to show the location of a fire and to give the advance alarm of an overheat state. CONSTITUTION: The system for detecting the overheat state and a fire in the cargo bay of an airplane includes the controllers (22 and 24) mounted on the airplane and plural thermal imaging modules (31-40) which are coupled with the controllers (22 and 24) and are positioned at the place which can be directly seen from the cargo container in the cargo bay. The thermal imaging modules (31-40) indicate fires in the container for sensing the overheat state at the outside of a cargo bay container and have infrared ray detectors outputting signals in the controllers (22 and 24). The dimensions of the thermal imaging modules (31-40) are decided so as not to prevent the unloading of the cargo of the cargo bay and are positioned at the cargo bay.
