PREPARATION OF TRANSFORMER OIL COMPOSITION FROM RAW FOR HYDROCRACKING OIL

PURPOSE: To provide a formulated transformer oil having properties equivalent to those of a formulated naphthenic transformer oil by fractionating a hydrocracked paraffinic petroleum hydrocarbon stock, dewaxing the resultant distillate with a solvent, and adding to the dewaxed distillate an antioxidant and/or a pour point depressant. ;CONSTITUTION: A paraffinic petroleum hydrocarbon stock is hydrocracked in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst at 350°C or lower at a liq. space velocity of 0.2-2.0 V/V/H, a pressure of 35.15-210.9 kg/cm², a hydrogen purity of 50-100 LV%, a hydrogen treating velocity of 3,000-120,000 SCF/B, and a conversion until 350°C of 50-100. The resultant hydrocracked stock is fractionated to produce a distillate boiling in the transformer oil range (270-350°C), which is cooled to about -24°C and filtered with a dewaxing solvent at -21°C or lower to be dewaxed. To the dewaxed distillate is added 0.005-0.3 wt.% antioxidant and/or 0.01-2.0 wt.% flow point depressant.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO
