To shape the mouth opening for bottles, where glass tubes are held in carousel to be formed into the bottles, a shaping finger is at each glass tube where the ends have been softened by heat. Shaping fingers are part of the carousel, and move with it. - Each shaping finger is pref. inserted into the softened end of the glass tube in a two-dimensional movement line, in a rolling insertion action while the outside of the glass is heated at the mouth end. - Each shaping finger (11), for each glass tube (5), is pref. on two slides (7,10) on the carousel (2), to move the finger radially and longitudinally along the axis (LA) of the glass tube (5) so that, in the final position, the finger (11) is at the level of the shaping roller (29).
