FLUIDIZATION-PREVENTIVE WALL STRUCTURE FOR BEARING GROUND OF EXISTING STRUCTURE AND ITS CONSTRUCTION

PURPOSE:To relieve damage to existing structures by suppressing the fluidization of soft ground by a method in which a fluidization preventive wall for soft bearing ground is made up of rigid piles and a water-permeable sheet. CONSTITUTION:Soft ground Al to support an existing structure C is surrounded by a fluidization preventive wall 1 for the ground. The wall 1 consists of rigid piles 2 driven at a given interval around the soft ground A1 and water- permeable sheets 3 in a tensed state set integrally with rigid piles 1 between the adjacent piles 2. The lower ends of the piles 2 and the sheets 3 are driven into the bearing layer B and supported. Void water passes through the sheets 3 and is discharged into the outside soft ground even when liquefaction occurs in soft ground A by the rise of the void water pressure during earthquake. The excessive void water pressure beneath the existing structure C can thus be smoothly dissipated.
