CUTTING TOOL MADE OF SURFACE-COATED TICN-CERMET HAVING EXCELLENT TOUGHNESS

摘要

PURPOSE:To improve toughness of a cutting tool made of surface-coated TiCN- cermet. CONSTITUTION:The cutting tool made of surface-coated TiCN-mermet is formed so that on the surface of a TiCN group cermet base body containing binder phase forming component of 12-20% having Co and Ni as main bodies, and forming an elusion alloy layer of mean thickness of 0.5-1.5mum consisting of binder phase constituting component on the surface part, a hard coating layer consisting of a plurality of layers over two sorts among TiC, TiN, TiCN and Al2O3, is formed by a usual chemical vapour deposition method or a physical vapour deposition method, as a TiN layer of mean thickness 0.5-1.5mum having diffusion preventing function against a first layer in contact with the elusion alloy layer on the surface part of the base body.
