RUST PREVENTING AND WATER-PROOFING METHOD OF AUTOMOBILE USING SEALING MATERIAL WITH EXTREMELY LOW SPECIFIC GRAVITY

PURPOSE:To lower the weight of an automobile by heat-drying an automotive sealing material after application of the automotive sealing material prepared by adding glass-based hollow articles to a vinyl chloride-based plastisol for automotive sealing and carrying out coating and baking of an intermediate coating material and a finishing coating material. CONSTITUTION:After an automotive sealing material prepared by adding 5-15wt.% of glass- or sirasu-based hollow articles to a vinyl chloride-based plastisol containing vinyl chloride-based resin and a plastisizer (e.g. dioctyl phthalate) for automobiles is applied, heat-drying is carried out. Then, an intermediate coating paint is applied and baked and further a finishing coating material is applied and baked. As compared with a conventional method for sealing material coating, this rust preventing and water-proofing method contributes to making the weight of an automobile light without degrading the rust preventing effect and the waterproofing effect on the automobile.
