METHOD FOR MASS PROLIFERATION OF UNICELLULAR MULTINUCLEATE ALGAE AND PRODUCTION OF USEFUL SUBSTANCE

PURPOSE:To proliferate the subject algae in a large amount using simple operation by collecting nucleus-containing organella from cells of unicellular multinucleate algae under germ-free conditions, then culturing the resultant organella and regenerating individuals of the unicellular polynucleated algae from the respective organella. CONSTITUTION:Nucleus-containing organella are initially collected from the interior of cells of unicellular multinucleate algae (e.g. Valonia ventricosa) under germ-free conditions. The resultant organella are then cultured in a PES culture medium, etc., to regenerate individuals of the unicellular multinucleate algae from the respective organella. The aforementioned germ-free conditions are realized by using, e.g. a clean bench. For example, micromanipulators are used as tools for collecting the organella.
