PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of an electronic information processing organization by automatically registering and managing the redundant constitution of ISDN communication adapters in ISDN communication equipment by means of an information processor. CONSTITUTION:Since plural ISDN communication adapters 200 are connected to the same ISDN customer bus and an input-output bus to an information processor, the adapters 200 can be used as spares for other adapters. In addition, when one or more ISDN communication adapters are constituted so that terminal endpoint identifier (TEI) values can be arbitrarily set and the adapters 200 are provided with gate means 208 for blocking the transmission of LAPD frame data from a layer 2 controlling section 207 to a layer 1 controlling section 205, a fault processing method can be well realized and the restoring process can be quickly executed without allowing a communication partner to recognize the restoring process when a fault occurs in one of the communication adapters.
