PURPOSE:To assemble a valve guide surely and efficiently without mistaking the press-in direction by advancing a robot hand to the specified position at the specified height, and confirming the reverse direction when the proximity switch of a detecting lever is kept on. CONSTITUTION:A robot hand 1 and the teaching height are set so that a chuck center 0, a wrist rotary shaft 3 provided in the advance direction of the robot hand 1 and the length center of a valve guide 12 are made the same height. Adjustment is made so that a proximity switch 11 is turned off when a contact 10 is thrust into the valve guide 12 by about 0.2-0.3mm. When the valve guide 12 is held in the reverse direction, the robot hand 1 is advanced to the specified position at the specified height, however a gap is generated between the outer periphery of the valve guide 12 and the contact 10 due to different shapes, a detecting lever system 6 is not operated, the proximity switch 11 is kept on, and the reverse direction can be confirmed.
