METHOD FOR SIMULTANEOUSLY INSERTING TWO WEFTS AND GROOVED INSERT RAPIER USING THE SAME METHOD AND GROOVED CARRIER RAPIER USED THEREFOR

PURPOSE:To enable to simultaneously insert plural proper and effective wefts into a warp row by surely nipping the wefts with a laterally depressed groove formed on the weft-holding surface of a rapier and with the other part of the surface. CONSTITUTION:In a rapier loom, a depressed groove 32 laterally crossing the weft-holding surface of at least one of an insert rapier 2 and a carrier rapier 3' disposed on both the sides of a warp row in a mutually facing state is formed on the weft-holding surface. When two wefts 5a, 5b are, for example, simultaneously inserted into the warp row, the weft 5a is placed in the depressed groove 32 of the carrier rapier 3' and the other weft 5b is strongly nipped at the other part of the carrier rapier 3' because an interval between the carrier head 21 and the yarn catcher 22 is not opened larger than the pressed thickness of the weft 5a, thereby surely and simultaneously holding the two wefts 5a, 5b. A depressed groove 32 can similarly be disposed on the insert rapier 2.
