PURPOSE:To regenerate a deteriorated fluidized catalytic cracking catalyst without losing zeolite being the active component thereof, by a method wherein the fluidized catalytic cracking catalyst of which the capacity is lowered by the adhesion of Ni and V is subjected to oxidation treatment and the treated one is subsequently subjected to extraction treatment by a polar solvent to remove V. CONSTITUTION:In the fluidized catalytic cracking of a heavy petroleum stock oil, a fluidized catalytic cracking catalyst of which the capacity is lowered by the adhesion of Ni and V is baked at 600-700 deg.C in air or in an oxidative atmosphere to oxidize V. The catalyst subjected to oxidation treatment is washed with at least one kind of solvent selected from a group comprising methanol, ethanol and water under pressure ranging from atmospheric pressure to 10kg/cm2 at a temp. ranging from an atmospheric temp. to 200 deg.C to extract V. The solvent in the catalyst subjected to extraction treatment is removed by heating or drying operation to complete V-removing treatment. By this method, regeneration is performed without losing zeolite being the active component of the fluidized catalytic cracking catalyst.
