GLASS CLOTH FOR REINFORCING POLYPHENYLENE SULFIDE RESIN AND LAMINATED BOARD USING SAME GLASS CLOTH

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject cloth useful for laminated board of polyphenylene sulfide resin giving excellent mechanical properties and readily producible at a low cost by treating glass fiber with water-dispersible emulsion of a novolak-type epoxy resin and a surface-treating agent. CONSTITUTION:For instance, water-dispersible emulsion of a novolak-type epoxy resin [preferably 1-5wt.% concentration of solid] is preferably mixed with a surface-treating agent such as aminosilane (preferably 0.5-3wt.%) and glass fiber is dipped in resultant mixture, then the mixture is squeezed so as to have 30wt.% pickup amount, thus squeezed to afford the aimed cloth. Further, said glass cloth as a reinforcing agent is laminated with a polyphenylene sulfide resin (PPS resin) as a binder and heated under pressing by passing between hot presses heated at a temperature higher than melting point of the PPS resin to afford a laminated board.
