METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING TENSION OF LOOPER FOR CONTINUOUS ANNEALING FURNACE

PURPOSE:To eliminate the development of meandering in looper and to stabilize an operation by setting tension of the loop according to length between looper rolls in a fixed carriage and a movable carriage in the looper set at inlet side and outlet side of a furnace. CONSTITUTION:In the looper set at the inlet side and the outlet side of the continuous annealing furnace, roll span L between the looper rolls 10a-e in the fixed carriage 10 and the looper rolls 11a-d in the shifting carriage 11, is measured. Then, when this roll span L is short, setting of the tension in the looper is made low and on the contrary, when long, setting of the tension in the looper is made high. Thus, the development of meandering in the looper and the development of drawing of a strip, are eliminated and operation of the furnace is stabilized.
