PURPOSE:To reduce a required storage area and to increase the processing speed by constituting a pointer array which indicates one of a lower triangular matrix part or an upper triangular matrix part from either of them inputted by symmetricity of a coefficient matrix. CONSTITUTION:A pointer array constituting part 1, a matrix decomposing part 2, a repeat calculation part 3, a product calculating part 4, and a product calculating part 5 are provided, and a diagonal matrix part of the coefficient matrix, the upper or lower triangular matrix part, and a right side vector are given as input data to constitute the pointer array from the upper or lower matrix part to the lower or upper matrix part by the symmetrical property of the coefficient matrix, and an approximate matrix is generated from the coefficient matrix. Thereafter, the pointer array is used to perform the calculation of the product between the coefficient matrix and vector data and the calculation of the product between the inverse matrix of the approximate matrix and vector data which frequently appear in the repeat calculation. Thus, the processing is performed at a high speed on a vector processor.
