PURPOSE: To provide an ink jet printhead having such a geometry as the operating temperature can be increased while providing a good liquid drop speed and high liquid drop capacity without sacrifice of capability for preventing blow out of bubble associated with additional air intake. CONSTITUTION: The flat face of an upper substrate 31 contains a set of parallel, closed-end grooves 20 for subsequent use as ink flow channels and a separate associated recess 24 for subsequent use as ink manifold. The flat face of a lower substrate 28 has an array of heating elements 34 and addressing electrodes 33 formed thereon. A thick film layer 18 is deposited on the surface of the lower substrate 28 and over the heating elements 32 and addressing electrodes 33 and patterned to remove predetermined portions of the thick film layer 33 thus forming an ink flow path therein between the channels 20 and the manifold and forming a set of individual parallel trenches 26 open at one ends as liquid drop discharge nozzle 27.
