HIGHLY WATER-TREE RESISTANT ETHYLENE-BASED POLYMER OR ETHYLENE-BASED POLYMER COMPOSITION AND POWER CABLE USING IT

PURPOSE:To provide ethylene-based polymer or the ethylene-based polymer composition having resistance to water-tree formation without lowering electric insulating properties by containing a very slight amount of unsaturated carboxylic acid ester and/or vinyl ester monomer and a specified polar group monomer. CONSTITUTION:An ethylene-based polymer or an ethylene-based polymer composition contains (a) 89.2-98.998wt.% of ethylene monomer, (b) 1-10wt.% of unsaturated carboxylic acid ester and/or vinyl ester monomer, (c) 0.02-0.8wt.% of polar group monomer having at least one pole and selected from monomers containing ketone group, nitryl, and nitro group and water-tree resistance of the polymer or the polymer composition is improved and electric insulation resistance is greatly heightened. If (b) component is equal to or less than 1wt.% the effect is slight and if equal to or less than 10wt.% insulating properties are deteriorated. Also, if (c) component is equal to or less than 0.002wt.% the effect as a polar group is little and if equal to or less than 0.8wt.% the insulating properties are deteriorated.
