TESTER FOR PRE-VACUUM TYPE STEAM STERILIZER

PURPOSE: To provide a sterilizing device for a relatively small, inexpensive throw-away pack for measuring whether its function is effective or not along with a suitable criterion by simulating exhausting and steam-penetrating conditions stated in a BORWY/DICK protocol. CONSTITUTION: A housing 12 defines therein a single chamber having a large opened end part 16, a relatively small end part 20 opposite to the opened end part 16, side walls 22 smoothly tapering from the opened end part 16 to the closed end part 20. A heat sink 30 is laid in the chamber, substantially extending from the opened end part 16 to the closed end part 20, and a passage 32 through which stream passes from the opened end part 16 to the closed end part 20 is defined. Since the passage 32 allows to steam to be sufficiently exposed to the heat sink 30, the steam is condensed in the passage 32 so as to emit noncondensable gas accompanied with the steam, and thus emitted noncondensable gas is pressed toward and concentrated at the closed end part 20.
