PURPOSE:To automatically make the start of recording and reproduction of musical performance information synchronize with reproduction of a musical piece recorded in music media by controlling the start of recording or reproduction of musical perfor mance information generated by a musical performance of an electronic musical instru ment, based on time information for showing the start of reproduction of an audio signal. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 1 generates musical performance information corresponding to key information generated from a keyboard 2 and sends it out to a musical tone generating device 4, and also, executes write or read-out of musical performance information corresponding to a musical performance information memory 9 in accor dance with a mode set by a switch 3. Also, the CPU 1 instructs the start and the end of reproduction of a musical piece recorded in a CD and a melody number of the musical piece related to its reproduction to a CD driver circuit 11 in accordance with the designation of the switch 3, and also, generates timer time information for showing the remaining time to reproduction of the musical piece, based on time infor mation contained in digital sub-code information read out of the CE through the CD driver circuit 11 and an encoder 12, and sends it out to a display device 10.
