MANUFACTURE OF ARTICLE HAVING COMPLEX SHAPE BY INFILTRATION AND ELECTRODE FOR ELECTRIC SPARK MACHINING MANUFACTURED WITH SAME

PURPOSE:To easily obtain an article having a complex shape by filling powder of a metal to be infiltrated into spaces having the profile of the article defined by combining parts each made of a sheet of a metal for infiltration, melting the metal for infiltration by heating and allowing the molten metal to penetrate into the metal to be infiltrated. CONSTITUTION:The profile of an article having a complex shape is divided into parts 2a-2f with sheets of a metal for infiltration such as copper and then the profiles 2a-2f of the parts are combined to form the entire profile 2 of the article. Powder 3 of a metal (alloy) to be infiltrated such as iron is filled into spaces defined by the profile forming means to form the filled body 4. The resulting filled body 4 is heated to melt the metal for infiltration and the molten metal is allowed to penetrate into the metal to be infiltrated to obtain a dense sintered body.
