PURPOSE:To easily execute the correction and the verifying work of a knowledge base by constituting the system so that in the case there is a discrepancy in the knowledge base, the knowledge base related thereto is displayed, and simultaneously, whether influence is exerted on other knowledge due to a correction of the knowledge base or not is verified by using diagnostic data in the past. CONSTITUTION:When a user 1 outputs a simulated fault by a simulated fault generating device 2, an event by the simulated fault is generated in a diagnostic object system 3, and sent to a fault hypothesis generating part 4b, a comparing part 4c and a diagnostic data storage part 4d from an input device 4a of a fault diagnostic system 4. Subsequently, by comparing the simulated fault and a fault hypothesis 4f by a result of diagnosis, an error of a knowledge base 4e is detected, and the knowledge base 4e for leading the fault hypothesis is displayed 4g automatically. Also, by using the simulated fault stored in the past and an event 4d, a fault diagnosis and a verification of a result of diagnosis are executed automatically, and a verification of the knowledge base of the fault diagnosis is executed. In such a way, a defective part of the knowledge base 4i can be extracted automatically.
