PURPOSE:To execute the measurement for coefficient of friction in high accuracy by obtaining driving torque component for pinch rolls and calculating the friction force between a mold and a cast slab from force acted to the mold with molten steel static pressure and driving torque component for pinch rolls. CONSTITUTION:The force acted to the mold 1 is obtd. from the molten steel static pressure. From a driving motor 5 for the pinch rolls 3, the number of revolution and the torque are detected by using a detector 6 for the number of revolution. By analyzing the detected torque, the spectrum of mold oscillating frequency component is obtd. and also thrust for driving the pinch rolls 3 is obtd. The force acted to the mold 1 from the molten steel static pressure and the friction force between the mold 1 and the cast slab 2, from the driving torque component for pinch rolls 3, are calculated. By this method, the measurement of coefficient of the friction can be executed at high reliability.
