PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration in photographic characteristics and to improve processing stability and image preservable stability by incorporating a magenta coupler into a green sensitive layer and forming this layer of a low calcium gelatin layer hardened by a specific compd. CONSTITUTION:The green sensitive layer contains the magenta coupler expressed by formula I and consists of the low calcium gelatin layer hardened by the compd. expressed by formula II. In the formula I, Z denotes the nonmetal atom. group necessary for forming a nitrogenous heterocycle; X denotes a hydrogen atom or the group which can be eliminated by reaction with the oxidant of a color developing agent or R denotes a hydrogen atom or substituent. In the formula II, R2, R3, R5, R6, denote a hydrogen atom, 1 to 8C alkyl group or vinyl sulfonyl group, vinyl sulfonyl alkyl group; R1, R4 denote 1 to 4C alkylene group; (n) denotes 0 or 1. The deterioration in the photographic characteristics is prevented in this way and the processing stability and the image preservable stability are improved.
