FUSED MAGNESIA-SPINEL RAW MATERIAL AND MAGNESIA-SPINEL-CARBON BRICK

PURPOSE:To suppress texture deterioration caused by reaction of MgO and C in a high-temperature range without damaging corrosion resistance in a fused magnesia.spinel raw material having a specific ratio of MgO and Al2O3 and a specific total amount thereof by making structure wherein periclase particles are at least partially coated with spinel. CONSTITUTION:A fused magnesia.spinel raw material having (1) a weight ratio of MgO/Al2O3 of 50/50-95/5, (2) a total amount of MgO and Al2O3 of =95wt.% and (3) structure wherein periclase particles are at least partially coated with spinel is used as a fused magnesia spinel raw material useful for refractory raw material or refractory brick. Magnesia spinel brick consists of 10-80 wt.% of the above-mentioned fused magnesia spinel raw material, 3-60wt.% graphite and the rest of magnesia raw material.
