PURPOSE:To execute the processing of dividing/compressing a plane view drawing composed of rectangles and line segments at a designated point in a designated direction at high speed. CONSTITUTION:Equipments belonging to an equipment set A constituting the plane view drawing are classified into three equipment sets (B, C and D) by an equipment classifying means 4. The sets B and C constitute two continuous areas which are not overlapped each other on the plane view drawing. Since an equipment selecting means 5 and a set deciding means 6 include the equipments belonging to the set D into the set B or C together with equipments directly or indirectly connected to those equipments, the plane view drawing is divided. Further, by disecting a plane while using this plane view drawing dividing device, calculating a minimum distance between the two equipment sets and parallelly moving the equipments so as to shorten a distance between the two sets only for the calculated minimum distance, the plane view drawing is compressed in the designated direction.
