PURPOSE:To produce the heat treatment saving type high tensile steel wire having excellent fatigue resistance and wear resistance by subjecting a steel having the specific compsn. consisting of C, Si, Mn, V, Al, N, and Fe to specified hot rolling, cold treating and drawing. CONSTITUTION:The steel contg. 0.20 to 0.50wt.% C, 0.01 to 0.70wt.%, Si, 1.0 to 2.0wt.% Mn, 0.03 to 0.25wt.% V, 0.02 to 0.06wt.% Al, and 0.006 to 0.02wt.% N, further contg. a specific ratio of alloy components, such as Ni and Nb, and consisting of the balance substantially Fe is subjected to hot rolling at =60% total reduction of area at 900 to 1050 deg.C and the hot rolling is ended at 900 to 1100 deg.C. This steel plate is then rapidly cooled at =30 deg.C/sec cooling rate down to 900 to 700 deg.CC and is then subjected to continuous cooling at 0.1 to 10 deg.C/sec average cooling rate down to =55O deg.C, by which the fine ferrite/ pearlite structure is obtd. This steel product is subjected to drawing of 10 to 40% reduction of area.
