PURPOSE:To properly evaluate the momentary strain recovery elasticity of the fibrous and planar structure material by applying an inertial force to one end of a sample and measuring the quantity of resulting elastic elongation and the spontaneous initial shrinking speed right after the elongation. CONSTITUTION:A hollow weight 5 is inserted into a columnar rod 3 fitted to an electromagnet 2 fixed to a fixed plate 1 and attracted to an electromagnet 2. Then the sample 6 is fitted to sample holders 4 and 7. The holder 7 is fitted to a disk 8 which receives a shock from the weight 5 and a disk 10 is fitted on its lower shaft 9. Then the electromagnet 2 is powered off to fall the weight 5, which moves down together with the disk 8 to cause the sample 6 is elongated at this time. When the disk 8 strikes on a fixed disk 16 and the weight 5 moves up instantaneously, the disk 8 moves up with the instantaneous shrinkage force of the sample 6. This displacement is detected by a displacement sensor 11 and recorded 13 through a displacement meter 12. The initial shrinking speed is read out of the recording data, the maximum quantity of elongation of the sample and the elongation quantity in a balanced state after a certain time are read, and their difference is approximated to the elastic elongation quantity.
