NEW MATERIAL:A compound having the following characteristics: Color and properties, colorless powder; melting point, 226-235 deg.C (decomposed); specific rotation, [alpha] =-69.5 deg.C (83% methanol); elementary analysis (%), C 69.87, H 7.06, N 14.26; solubility, readily soluble in DMF and methanol and slightly soluble in water and ethanol and insoluble in benzene, chloroform, hexane and ethyl ether; stability, stable in pH2-9; basic substance; molecular weight, 1175, etc. USE:A remedy for infectious disease effective on a resistant bacterium. PREPARATION:A bacterial strain belonging to the genus Pseudomonas, e.g. Pseudomonas maltophieia BMH829-AF1 (FERM P-11046) is cultured.
