PURPOSE:To considerably decrease the generation of micro-surface defects by adding an atm. annealing stage and pickling state between a grinding stage and cold rolling stage in a process for producing a cold rolled steel strip of an austenitic stainless steel. CONSTITUTION:The steel strip hot rolled from a slab is subjected to annealing and pickling - grinding - cold rolling - annealing and pickling - temper rolling in the method for producing the cold rolled austentic stainless steel strip. The atm. annealing stage and pickling stage are added between the grinding stage and the cold rolling stage among these stages. The steel strip hardened to about 245 Vickers hardness by grinding with the grinder is annealed in the atm. to =200 Vickers hardness and after the oxide scale formed during such annealing is pickled away, the strip is treated by the stages after the cold rolling. The micro-defects on the surface of the austenitic stainless steel sheet as the final product are considerably decreased.
