PURPOSE:To obtain the title copolymer excellent in productivity, useful as a compatibility improver etc. by feeding, in a closed reaction vessel, a molten crystalline olefin polymer with a styrene-based monomer and radical polymerization initiator followed by kneading and making a grafting reaction. CONSTITUTION:In such a process as to graft a styrene-based monomer (the amount to be used is pref. 20-100 pts. wt. based on 100 pts. wt. of the crystalline olefin polymer) to a crystalling olefin polymer (e.g. polyethylene; pref. = 10% in degree of crystallinity), the crystalline olefin polymer melted in advance is fed, in a closed reaction vessel, with a styrene-based monomer and a radical polymerization initiator (e.g. methyl ehtyl ketone peroxide; the amount to be used is pref. 0.05-10 pts. wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the monomer) followed by kneading to carry out the grafting reaction, thus giving the objective copolymer.
