METHOD FOR COMPACTING ROAD BED UNDER CROSSTIE

PURPOSE: To fluidize and consolidate the part of a ballast leading to the undersides of sleepers by positioning a loading plate on the ballast between the sleepers, and effecting static loading on a loading plate while vibrating it. CONSTITUTION: Sleeper 1 positions are fixed immediately after the work of consolidating a ballast 2, and a loading plate 4 is positioned between the sleepers 1. Static pressure 5 is applied to the loading plate 4, together with a vibrating force 6, and the part of the ballast up to a range indicated by a broken line 3 above the unloosened part 7 of the ballast is consolidated. Thus, since fluidized granular material in the range of the ballast part from between the sleepers to the outsides of longitudinal centers on the undersides of the sleepers on both sides can be consolidated, the progress of track deviation can be reduced.
