PURPOSE:To securely correct a meandering on the inlet side of a rolling mill by suitably adjusting a gain of a proportional and integral system through a fuzzy inference with a tension deviation of a rolled stock between both sides on the outlet side of the rolling mill and an amount of meandering of the rolled stock on the inlet side of the rolling mill as variables. CONSTITUTION:The tension of each rolled stock 1 on an operator side and a drive side on the outlet side of the rolling mill 2 is detected to obtain a deviation. This deviation is brought under proportional and integral control to operate amounts of deviation at the rolling down position. The reference of each rolling down position is corrected respectively by an amount of deviation of each rolling down position. In a controller of this meandering are provided a detecting means 13 for an amount of meandering to detect the amount of meandering of the rolled stock 1 on the inlet side of this rolling mill 2, a fuggy interference means 16 to determine a suitable gain of this proportional plus integral system through a fuggy interference with this detected amount of meandering and the deviation of tension of this rolled stock as variables and a multiplication means 17 to adjust the gain of the above proportional plus integral system so that this gain can be obtained.
