MITE-REPELLENT AQUEOUS RESIN EMULSION COMPOSITION

PURPOSE:To provide the subject composition capable of being readily and safely applied, exhibiting an excellent mite-repellent activity and having a long duration time of the activity after the application by emulsion-polymerizing in an aqueous solution a radically polymerizable unsaturated monomer containing a specific amount of a soluble mite-repellent. CONSTITUTION:100 pts. wt. of a radically polymerizable unsaturated monomer such as (meth)acrylate or styrene containing 2-30 pts. wt. of a mite-repellent selected from soluble compounds of the formula [X is H, OH; R1 is OH, 1-9C hydrocarbon (containing one or more hetero-atoms); R2 is H, 1-30C hydrocarbon radical 1-9C hydrocarbon group (containing one or more hetero-atoms)] such as phenyl salicylate, 2,5-dichloro-4-bromophenol and 2-phenylphenol in the presence of a suitable emulsifier and a polymerization initiator in an aqueous medium to prepare the objective composition. The composition is applied to various articles by a coating method, a spraying method, etc.
