PAIN MITIGATING AGENT FOR ECTOPIC CALCIFICATION

PURPOSE:To provide a pain mitigating agent for ectopic calcification, containing 24,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol as an active component, having high safety, and applicable for a long period. CONSTITUTION:24,25-Dihydroxycholecalciferol (hereinafter called as the substance), preferably 24R,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol is used as a pain mitigating agent for ectopic calcification. There are many patients complaining the pain caused by the ectopic calcification near the joints or soft tissues as a complication of the long-term dialysis. It has been found that the substance is effective to mitigate the pain of ectopic calcification. It has extremely high safety. It is administered parenterally e.g. by peritoneal infusion, however, it can be administered orally. Dose: preferably 0.5-10,000mug daily.
