PURPOSE:To provide a rubber composition having ozone resistance, heat resistance and oil resistance, and improved steam resistance, by compounding a crosslinking assistant to a rubber composition composed of a specific nitrile group- containing hydrocarbon rubber and an organic peroxide vulcanizing agent. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition is obtained by compounding (A) a nitrile group-containing hydrocarbon rubber (e.g. butadiene-acrylonitrile rubber) having an iodine value of =120, preferably =40 and containing 10-60wt%, preferably 20-45wt% structural unit derived from unsaturated nitrile with (B) 3-15pts.(wt), based on 100pts. of rubber, of an organic peroxide vulcanizing agent (e.g. dicumyl peroxide) and (C) 8-30pts., preferably 10-25pts. of a crosslinking assistant (e.g triallyl cyanurate) based on 100pts. of A+B.
