The product to be coated is passed in a zinc-aluminium alloy bath, to whichsilicon and/or magnesium has been added in a total quantity not exceeding0.1% by weight of the zinc-aluminium alloy bath. At the outlet of saidcoating bath and after conventional drying, said still liquid coating iscooled suddenly by spraying it with a coolant. Said coolant may be a liquid,such as water or an aqueous liquid, possibly sprayed in the form of a mist,or a gas, such as air or nitrogen.
