The drive consists of two rotating electric machines mounted onto a common shaft and contains an externally excited d.c. driving motor and an externally excited d.c. braking generator which is connected to it mechanically directly or through a gear ratio transmission. The generator (2) armature is created with a braking resistance which has small impedance as a closed circuit and into the armature circuit of the driving motor (1). - An armature current sensing stage (3) is inserted which observes the armature current. The current changes proportionally with the torque of the motor. The current sensing stage (3) is connected to the comparator stage (4), and to the output of the latter the Rgg excitation coil of the generator (2) is connected, which with the comparator stage (4), the current sensing stage (3) and through the polarity changing switch (Ki), together with the Rgm excitation coil of the driving motor is connected to the control voltage.
