Electric motor for battery-powered road vehicle - uses pulsed DC supply via switching circuit operated by copper collector

The stator of the motor consists of a cylindrical tube (10) of solid electrolytic copper and two electric coils (11,18). The coils act as primary windings of a transformer with the tube as the single turn secondary. A second cylinder (12) is placed inside the first, with its axis at right angles to the axis of the first (10). The second cylinder, which is made of a permanent magnetic material, is mounted on a drive shaft (13) made of non-magnetic material, e.g. stainless steel. The drive shaft also carries a flywheel (14). A copper collector (15) is used to operate the switching circuit which supplies pulses to the windings.
