The steplessly-adjustable transmission unit comprises a first rotary member (14) coupled by friction wheels (22) to a second coaxial one (30). The friction wheels are mounted in a ring round the axis (32) and are of double-cone shape, rotating on axes (20) at an acute angle to the main axis. These axes are coupled to a rotary carrier (16) coupled to the first member and adjustable in the axial direction. The planetary friction wheels run on the inside against a sun friction wheel (26), and also on the outside against a friction annulus.
