The system comprises a water conductor (1,19,37,48,62,63) which extends partially above the water surface (2) of the swimming pool. A person (36) can be moved within the water conductor through the movement of water within the water conductor. Pressure means (5,29) force water within the conductor to move in an upward direction. It is possible for the person to move in an upward direction in the water guide by actively swimming upward in upwardly pushed water or by allowing him/herself to be carried along passively by water pushed in an upward direction within the guide.
