The light reflected from the bar code strip (S) passes through a lens (4) to an image rotation assembly (3). The latter consists of three plane mirrors (11,12,13) mounted inside a cylindrical housing. The cylindrical housing is continually rotated (R) about the optical axis (A) by an electric motor. The rotating image is focused by another lens (5) onto the linear array of Charge Coupled Devices - CCDs - inside the sensor head (1).
