Open trapezium-form profile assembly (1), comprising two identical open trapezium-form metal, e.g., steel or aluminium, profiles (2,3) separated by a space which is filled with a foam material (7) which does not creep, pref. of a polyvinylchloride or anhydrate basis. Projections (4,5) provided by forming impressions in the profile material maintain the separation of the profiles (2,3) and may be fastened together by spot-welding or other suitable means. The projections may be substituted by a separate I-form profile which is fastened to the profiles (2,3). The profile assembly may be used in floor construction in which the cavity (15) is filled with particulate sound insulation material covering which is a separation layer (16) of elastically deformable material, pref. polypropylene. The covering layer (17) is of anhydrous material.
