A method of preparing sludge for mechanical dewatering and agricultural use, characterized in that the sludge at the stage of initial hydration is supplemented with hydrated lime in the amount of 8-12 kg per one cubic meter of sludge and following the mixing, it is subject to sedimentation thickening in separate chambers, and subsequently the thickened mechanically fed material during its transmission is supplemented with anion polyelectrolyte solution in the amount of 4-5 g.s.m per one kilogram of the mechanically fed material solid and at the end of the process, the mechanically fed material with anion polyelectrolyte distributed in it, is fed into a mechanically dehydrating device, where, following the separation of the mechanically fed material, the sludge of the 70 percent hydration, 90 percent sludge partition factor, pH 10-12 value is obtained.
